Stuffed cabbage rolls is a meat stuffed cabbage leaves with with rice and onion. Cabbage rolls is a traditional type of food to the ethnic cuisines of the Eastern Europe. Ingredients:
1 medium head cabbage
1 cup long grain rice
1 lb ground veal or beef
oil, pepper, salt and spices
Method:
Rinse well the leaves, pour over with hot water and drain. Cut the onion into small pieces and fry it on oil. Add ground meat, pepper, salt, spices and rice. Then use the mixture to stuff the pickled cabbage. Put a tablespoon of stuffing at core end of each cabbage leaf and roll, tucking in the ends. Place the rolls in layers in a baking pan. Add water to slightly cover the last layer of cabbage. Cover and simmer in a low oven for 3 hours.
Stuffed Cabbage Rolls is a traditional Polish meal. It is a heavy dish and usually eaten in the winter days.
